02 How Cluster Play Works

Clusters, tumbles and the chain

The Armillary Court grid is six columns wide and five rows deep. Instruments are dealt across all thirty cells at once. Wherever five or more of the same instrument sit edge to edge, side by side or one above the other, they form a cluster and clear together. Corners do not count, so a diagonal touch never joins a cluster.

When a cluster clears, the instruments above it fall down into the gap and fresh ones drop in from the top of the frame. If the new arrangement forms another cluster, it clears too. That is a tumble, and a run of them is a chain.

The chain multiplier

Every step of a chain moves the multiplier one notch along the track above the grid. The first clear counts at one, the second at two, and it keeps climbing while the tumbles keep going. A long chain is the most interesting thing that can happen on this floor, and it is the reason the grid is worth watching rather than just clicking.

Reading the panel

• Stake sets how many virtual credits each cast uses. Step it up or down with the two buttons.
• Sweep switches to a faster resolve if you would rather not wait out the animation.
• Cast deals a fresh grid.
• Session Net tracks the difference between what you have staked and what has come back, for this browser tab only.

All of it runs in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere, nothing is saved between visits, and if your credits reach zero the counter simply tops itself back up so you can keep playing.

What a free social game actually is

Meridian Brass is a social game. You open a page, a demo game runs, and that is the whole arrangement. There is no account to create, no balance to fund and no cashier of any kind. The instruments on the grid are worth virtual credits and virtual credits are worth nothing outside this page.

That distinction matters because the format looks familiar. Plenty of sites use grids and multipliers to move money around. This one does not. Nothing you do here can win money, lose money or turn into money later, which is why it is free to open, free to keep playing and free to walk away from.

We build these the way a museum builds a working model: the mechanism is real, the stakes are not. The Clockwork Orrery set is drawn from instruments an observatory floor would actually have kept, and the grid behaves consistently every time you cast, so the model holds up to being poked at.

04 Virtual Credits

Virtual credits and what they are not

Your credit counter starts at two thousand four hundred. It moves when you cast and when a cluster pays. That is all it does.

Virtual credits cannot be bought. There is no page on this site that takes a payment, and there never will be. They cannot be sold, traded, gifted or transferred to another player, because there are no other players and no accounts to transfer between. They cannot be withdrawn, converted or redeemed for cash, goods, vouchers or entries into anything.

They also do not persist. Nothing is written to your device between visits. Refresh the page and the counter returns to where it started, which is the clearest evidence we can offer that the number is a display, not a balance.

If the counter reaches zero the game restores it automatically. There is nothing to run out of and nothing to top up.

Self-exclusion and device controls

Most sites in this space offer a self-exclusion tool that locks your account for a set period. We cannot offer one, because there are no accounts to lock. What we can do is point you at the controls that work regardless of whether a site cooperates, which are the ones on your own device.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. There is no registration, no form and no field anywhere on this site that asks for personal information. We do not collect your name, email address, postal address, phone number, date of birth or payment details, because there is no function on the site that would use them.

Game data

Your stake, your credit counter and your session totals are held in your browser's memory while the tab is open. They are never transmitted to us and never written to your device. Closing or refreshing the page discards them completely.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. It does not use local storage, session storage or any similar mechanism, and it loads no third-party scripts, fonts, analytics or advertising tags that could set one on our behalf. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. Your browser may still keep its own ordinary cache of the page files, which is outside our control and contains nothing about you.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard web server request logs, which may include an IP address, a timestamp and a browser user agent string. These are used to keep the site running and secure, are not linked to any identity, and are not used to build a profile or shared for advertising.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal information about you, there is generally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to privacy@meridianbrass.com and we will respond.
